COMPASS VDE Simulation
JOREK simulation of a COMPASS disruption induced by a Vertical Displacement Event (VDE). A small perturbation in the vertical control system was applied to lead the plasma column into the COMPASS tokamak divertor (in both experiments and JOREK). The simulation includes sheath boundary conditions and neutral particles for the first time. It corresponds to the base simulation described in [FJ Artola et al, PPCF 63, 064004 (2021)].
